Fighting Poverty with Passion

Field Report: YMCA Educational Services (YES!)–Stephanie W.

IMAG1987At the end of last month, we held our happy hour fundraiser, Gin & Phonics, at The Rusty Nail. Although we did not raise a significant amount from the 20% of bar sales between 4 and 8, it was still a great way to engage adult literacy supporters as well as the YMCA’s younger board members. Not to mention it was a pun-ny and eye-catching name! Next up is researching places to engage board members in a more upscale setting.

Following Gin & Phonics was GiveNOLA Day. We watched donations trickle in throughout the day and by the next day we had a nice big pool of donations! I posted a few photos of our students with a GiveNOLA sign to help make our Facebook posts more captivating.

And now I continue my quest for sponsorships, bar tabs (as prizes!), and food donations for Corporate Cup!
