Friends of Lafitte Greenway has partnered with Bike Easy and other New Orleans organizations to create the Claiborne Corridor Ambassador Program (CCAP). This is a community-driven campaign that advocates for safe, equitable, and affordable transportation options within the Claiborne Corridor.

The CCAP program aims to create a more inclusive process for public engagement, particularly with regards to decision-making processes concerning New Orleans’ public spaces, streets, and transportation options. The program will help ambassadors work to understand their neighbors’ and community members’ needs and desires for changes and improvements to their local streets and then amplify their voices through community-driven campaigns that advocate for safe, equitable, and affordable transportation options. Community members who become Ambassadors will participate in a campaign training and develop their own project to engage other residents around perceptions of transportation safety on the streets through a community-based advocacy campaign.

This program was developed out of the Foundation for Louisiana’s Equity Caucus Transportation Working Group, the program will recruit and train Ambassadors to identify transportation problems and develop community solutions to promote walking, biking, transit, and livable streets in their neighborhoods.

After completion of the project, Bike Easy and other partners are committed to developing leadership opportunities for ambassadors – within the organizations, partner organizations, and/or external steering group opportunities.

CCAP Partner Organizations are:

  • Broadmoor Improvement Association
  • Friends of Lafitte Greenway
  • Historic Faubourg Treme Association
  • Jericho Road
  • Music and Culture Coalition of New Orleans
  • Neighborhood Partnerships Network
  • NEWCITYNeighborhood Partnership
  • and we are still seeking one organization to assist with the Uptown Cohort
